Career
According to the legend, she is the daughter of Oyamatsumi who is jealous of the beauty of her younger sister, Konohanasakuya-hime. Both sisters want to marry Ninigi-no-Mikoto, a descendant of the Sun Goddess. The elder sister knowing she has little chance places a curse on her younger sister swearing that if she marries her offspring will be as short-lived as the life of a flower. This legend of the clash of the two sisters has formed the basis for many versions and it was also dramatized by Monzaemon Chikamatsu in his play Nihon Furisode Ha^jime.
