Background
Hirokuni Ito was born in 1870, was a nephew of Kaoru Inoue, originally named Yukichi Inoue. He was adopted by Hirobumi Ito in 1902, whose property he inherited with the latter assassination in Harbin.

Education
After graduating from Peers School, Hirokuni Ito proceeded to Germany for further studies.
Career
When Hirokuni Ito returned from Germany he entered the services of the Imperial Household and served there for 39 years before he retired to his country house at Okitsu (Shizuoka Prefecture), to devote himself to compiling a biography of his adopted father.
