Education
A disciple of Mitsuyoshi Tosa, he was adopted by his master.
Career
He became a Buddhist priest, he called himself Jokei. At the command of Emperor Gosai, he became an official head painter of orthodox Yamatoe painting. His celebrated works include Toshogu Engi (History of the Toshogu Shrine), Hashihime Monogatari (Tales of Princess Hashihime), Shotoku Taishi Emaki (A Picture Scroll Representing the Life of Prince Shotoku).
