Hiroshi Ueda took to writing and came into prominence with his novel Kojin (Yellow Dust). Ueda was purged after the war. He was on the editorial staff of Bungei Shuto (Literary Capital). Among his works are Kijun (Surrender) and Kaze-no Hi-no Musume (Girl on a Windy Day).
