Education
After graduating from Tokyo University (1879) he proceeded to France to study astronomy and mathematics at Paris University.
Career
Returning home (1883), he was appointed professor of science at his aima mater (1884). He was appointed chief of Tokyo Astronomical Observatory (1888). His book "Terao Arithmetic" was a popular textbook.
