Hisayuki Sengoku was born in 1752.
Late in life he succeeded to the Lordship of Izushi Clan (Hyogo Prefecture) during the Edo Period, but held sway for only four years before death overtook him. In this short period, however, he did much for education and encouraged the learning of classical literature by inviting masters of Confucianism to teach at his clan school. Also he restored Izushi-yaki (pottery) and spread sericulture in Tajima, Tamba and Tango provinces.
