Hitoshi Komatsu graduated from Japanese Painting Department of Kawabata Art School.
Had his work selected at exhibition sponsored by Kokuga Sosaku Kyokai (Creative Painting Society) (1923) and had his later work Kunugibayashi (Oak Forest) specially selected at 11th Teiten (The Imperial Art Exhibition) (1930). Thereafter kept exhibiting works at Teiten and Inten (The Japan Fine Arts Academy's Exhibition). After the war received Japan Fine Arts Academy Prize for Botan (Peony) display at 31th Inten and was nominated member of same organization (1946). Other works include Hanashobu (Iris) and Matsu (Pine Trees).
