Hizen-no-Jo Toyotake was a master chanter of Gidayu during the Edo Period, he made his first appearance on the stage of Toyotakeza Theater, Osaka, under the name of Toyotake-Shindayii. When puppet shows and Gidayit became popular in Edo (1733) he went there and soon secured for himself the right to take the title of Toyotake-Hizen-no-Jo in Edo.
