Hoan made scabbards of many types. Because Nobuna ga Oda, a poweriul warlord of his time, protected Jesuit priests, some of his works show European designs. He made some scabbards bearing European letters. One even bears the name of Hercules. Lived in Owari Province (Aichi Prefecture) and later moved to Kai (Yamanashi Prefecture), Kii Province (Wakayama Prefecture) then to Hiroshima, following lord Asano.
