He taught the Chinese art of divination in Edo. Hoan Oze became a scholar of the Kaga Clan (Ishikawa Prefecture) at the invitation of Lord Toshitsune Maeda. He wrote books including Taikoki (a biography of Hideyoshi Toyotomi).
