Hohei Suematsu entered Dai-Nippon Artificial Fertilizer Company (later merged to Nissan Chemical Industry Company) and became superintendent of Shimonoseki Plant and manager of Shimonoseki Agency (1923), manager of Otaru Agency (1924), director (1940), executive director (1946), managing director and vice-president (1947) and president (1949).
He was a director of Japan Employers' Associations and Federation of Economic Organizations and executive director of Japan Chemical Industry Association.
