Honma Nikkan was born in Japan.
After studying in various temples, he went to Mt. Minobu, the headquarters of the Nichiren Sect (1893) for further study.
Was appointed deputy director of the Daigakurin, the Nichiren Sect's college in Tokyo (1904) and was made an abbot. He revised the writings of St. Nichiren, founder of his sect, and wrote many books.
