Career
Strachan is also a Cabinet Minister, serving in the administration of Prime Minister Perry Christie as Minister of Financial Services and Local Government and also has responsibility for Trade and Industry. Hope Strachan was born on the island of New Providence in The Bahamas to Eric and Maxine (Adderley) Ingraham. Strachan was the granddaughter of Mary Naomie Ingraham, who during the 1960s worked to gain suffrage (the right to vote) for Bahamian women.
Strachan obtained a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree from the University of London, United Kingdom.
She was admitted to the Bar of England, Wales, and The Bahamas in 1989. Political
Strachan was appointed to the Senate in 2007 by Perry Christie who was the leader of the Opposition Progressive Liberal Party.
In 2012, Strachan was sworn in as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Transport. Strachan was appointed to the position of Minister of Financial Services in 2015.
