(This description of the structure of Old Church Slavonic ...)
This description of the structure of Old Church Slavonic is intended to present fully the important data about the language, without citing all the minutiae of attested variant spellings. The facts have been treated from the point of view of structural linguistics, but pedagogical clarity has taken precedence over the conciseness required for elegant formal description.

(This book is designed to enable a beginner to master the ...)
This book is designed to enable a beginner to master the fundamental structure of Russian as quickly as possible. Stress is laid on the indispensable forms and their uses. Vocabulary has been kept to a minimum so that the student will be encouraged to concentrate on all the possible combinations of the words he does know. The course provides, so to speak, samples of all the sizes, shapes and textures of building materials and many examples of the most important ways in which they can be combined, but it does not give many specimens of each size and shape. Learning vocabulary is an endless process, for every language constantly creates new words and no one ever knows the total lexicon. But the patterns into which the words must fit if they are to be meaningful are relatively few, and it is the task of mastering these patterns that must be the primary concern of the student. This second, revised, edition differs from the first in many details and in certain major divisions, making the lessons now less cumbersome and easier to handle in the classroom. In many places new exercises have been provided, with special attention to review materials, and the vocabulary has been increased by about forty-five items.

(The Old Testament Book of Esther in Slavonic translation ...)
The Old Testament Book of Esther in Slavonic translation is known from East Slavic manuscripts of the late 14th to the late 16th centuries. Working from the Masoretic Hebrew texts and Greek translations, Horace Lunt and Moshe Taube examine textological clues to the circumstances of Esther's translation, sources, and redactions. This study creates a solid basis from which scholars can now discuss the particulars of this important translation, the nature of East Slavic biblical translating activity, and the relationship of old East Slavic bookmen to Hebrew and Greek.
