This book is a description of the high school programs in the United States. This book may be considered to be definitive description of high school programs up to the point of the so-called "Mew" programs in science. The new programs will be discussed in another volume soon to be published. It presents a history and overview of the area followed by discussions in depth of each of the high school science subjects. The other science activities such as science fairs, clubs, congress, and the like, together with discussions of advanced courses, constitute the remainder of the book. All in all, he reader is given a comprehensive picture of the traditional approach to science education.
