Hori Hidemasa was born in 1553. He was the eldest son of Hidcshige and also known as Kyutaro.

Hori Hidemasa was born in 1553. He was the eldest son of Hidcshige and also known as Kyutaro.
He served Hideyoshi Toyotomi and received a fief of 25,000 koku of rice in Omi (Shiga Prefecture) from Nobunaga Oda. He suppressed the Ikko (Shinshu sect) revolt in Echizen (Fukui Prefecture) and the revolt in Saiga, Kn Province (Wakayama Prefecture). After the incident of the Honnoji Temple (1582) he led the vanguard oi the forces under Hideyoshi Toyotomi against Mitsuhide Akechi at the Yamazaki Battle.
Later resided in the Kitanosho Castle in Echizen, Fukui Prefecture (1574). He was killed during the Battle of Odawara.
