The third daughter of Mitsuhide Akechi. Her real name was Tama. She was well-known for her beauty. Married Tadaoki (1579).
Her father traitorously murdered his lord, Nobunaga Oda, she was divorced and exiled to Tamba Province (Kyoto Prefecture). Later, however, she was pardoned through the mediation of Hideyoshi Toyotomi and was allowed to return to the Akechi family. When Mitsunari Ishida of the Toyotomi Camp started a war against the Tokugawa Shogunate (1600), he took the wives and offsprings of warlords who had served Hideyoshi to Osaka Castle as hostages. Gratia refused to become a hostage of Mitsunari in spite of threats by his armed forces. She and other members of the Akechi family killed themselves, after having set their house on fire. She was a devout Catholic with the name of Gratia.
