Background
Elewa, Hossam Hamdy was born August 20, 1962 in Cairo. Son of Hamdy Elewa Omar. He got his B.Sc. degree in 1985 from Ain Shams University in Cairo. He began his career as a field hydrogeologist in 1988 in GARPAD, Cairo. He joined the NARSS in 1996 as an associate researcher. He continued his studies till being awarded the PhD degree in 2000 from Ain Shams University. He allocated different posts in NARSS with 20 years experience with many published contributions in esteemed international journals. Since 2012 till now, he is Prof. of Hydrogeology and Chair of EAWD in NARSS.

Career
An acclaimed scientist in the fields of remote sensing & GIS applications in hydro(geo)logical researches. He published many articles, especially in the topics which focuses the solution of the problem of water scarcity that usually hamper developmental activities in developing countries. His research achievements are mainly in using RS & GIS Techniques in determining potential sites for surface water harvesting, groundwater potentiality mapping, water/land use planning and water use sustainability.
