Following graduation from the Economics Department of Kyoto University entered Sumitomo Bank (1926). After successive promotions became manager of Tokyo Branch, manager of Head Office and permanent director and thereafter was appointed vice-president (1947) and then president. Nominated vice-president of Osaka Bankers' Association (1953). Permanent director of Keidanren (The Federation of Economic Associations) and Nikkeiren (The Japan Federation of Employers Associations).
