Taylor was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium pace. Taylor made his first-class debut for Kent against Yorkshire in the 1937 County Championship. He made two further first-class appearances for the county in that season, against Glamorgan and Somerset.
In his three first-class appearances for Kent, Taylor scored a total of 53 runs at an average of 8.83, with a high score of 29.
