Admitted to Indiana bar, 1908. Associate in practice with William A. Ketcham, 1908-1915. Member Indiana State Industrial Commission, 1915-1919.

Special counsel United States Fidelity & Guaranty Company, 1919-1925. Attorney manager Metropolitan Casualty Insurance Company, New York, 1925-1931, vice-president and general counsel, 1931-1932, president since 1932. Vice-president and general counsel Commercial Casualty Insurance Company, Newark, New Jersey, 1931-1932, president since 1932.
