宝藏院胤榮
A native of Satsuma Province (Kagoshima Prefecture), he called himself Kakuzembo. Studied swordsmanship under Isenokami Kozumi together with Muneyoshi Yagyu, noted fencer. Then he was trained in spearmanship by Moritada Daizendayu in Nara. Collaborating with Moritada in the Hozoin Temple, he developed the Hozoin School. In-ei, however, never kept a weapon in his temple and instructed that none of the heirs of his family should learn any military art, because he was a Buddhist priest.
