Hsi-hou Tong was made a brigadier general in 1918, Commander of the 4th Szechuan Army in 1921, Commander of the 30th Division of the National Army in Szechuan in 1923, Civil Governor of Szechuan in 1924, Commander of the 28th Nationalist Revolutionary Army, since 1928.
He also took position of Commander-in-Chief of the 7th Route Nationalist Army in 1928, member of the Szechuen Provincial Government and concurrently Commissioner of Civil Affairs for Szechuan form 1928 till 1931, director of the Military Reorganization in Western Szechuan, Commander of the 28th Army and concurrently FieldCommander of the 1st Route Army of the Communist Suppression Forces.
