Career
Herbert Jones also played a total of 21 matches for the New South Wales Rugby representative side between 1911-1914. He played his early rugby for Carrington and local sides in the Newcastle area. Herbert Jones enlisted in the AIF on 26 July 1915 at the age of 26 years and 11 months.
He was posted to the 30 Battalion of the newly formed 5th Division and embarked on the troopship Beltana on 9 November 1915.
He is buried in the AIF Burial Ground Grass Lane, Flers, plot IX row B Grave 4. Jones, a centre, claimed a total of 3 international rugby caps for Australia.
