Brunt first came to attention of composer Paul Patterson while still a schoolboy. Brunt was one of the founders of the London Contemporary Orchestra in 2008, along with violist Robert Ames. Brunt and Ames had been friends from university.
Brunt conducted Jonny Greenwood’s soundtrack to Paul Thomas Anderson’s 2012 film The Master.
He has also collaborated with artists including Imogen Heap, Ron Arad, Belle & Sebastian and Foals. In a positive review of a 2010 LCO concert, Geoff Brown of The Times wrote that "Brunt"s conducting of every bar, from the opening buzzing bass line to the sudden consonant end assertive, was graceful, just like the music
