Career

Peter) Barker. Ordained deacon Church of England, 1621, priest, 1623, left England to preach to English Puritans on Continent, 1829. Came to American, 1635. Pastor at Salem, Massachusetts, 1636-1641.

Admitted as freeman of Massachusetts Bay Colony, 1636.

Member committees to draft code of laws for Massachusetts Bay Colony, 1636, 38. A founder Harvard, 1637, overseer, 1640.

Returned to England to aid Puritan movement and to act as agent of Massachusetts Bay Colony, 1641. Chaplain to Cromwell’s forces during Puritan Revolution.
