Hyakuo Kasahara was a doctor by profession he was the first to introduce vaccine into Japan. It is said that he persuaded Shungaku (Yoshinaga) Matsudaira, Lord of his clan, to agree to the importation of vaccine from Holland and that when it arrived he personally helped in distributing it throughout the country.
