Graduated from Naval Academy with top honors (1892) and after a steady rise in ranks ultimately became full admiral(1928). After graduating from Naval Staff College, served successively as captains of warships IvKite and Haruna and Commander of Training Squadron and Commander-in-Chief of Sasebo Naval Station and thereafter held the post as War Councilor (from 1936) until he was placed on the waiting list and transferred to first reserve (1938). Then became Grand Chamberlain resigned that post due to the reformation of the system after the war.
