Education

Hyam Yona attended United States Coast Guard Academy, 1971-1973, University of Massachusetts at Amherst, 1974-1977, and University of Tel Aviv, 1984-1986.

Career

Hyam Yona Becker grew up in western Massachusetts, but moved to Israel at age twenty-five and became a Torah-observant Jew. He lives with his family in Emanuel on the West Bank. He has been working as scriber since 1987.

Along with his Torah studies Hyam Yona has maintained an ongoing interest in layman’s science. He incorporated them into his book The Temple of Hashem, a novel of Jewish science fiction. Using Torah concepts in an adventure story gave it a depth unattainable in normal science fiction. Becker believes, that it may possibly be a new branch of the genre.
