Mr. Witcover began his career in Savannah at an early age, working first in the employ of one of the city’s early architects, A. Eichburg, and a few years later was taken into partnership. In 1906 he opened an office in Savannah, and continued in practice there for nearly twenty-five years, known as the architect of a number of important buildings. Notable examples of these include the City Hall, Public Library (1914), Liberty Bank Building, and the Scottish Rite Temple (1916-20). In addition Mr. Witcover designed the Darlington (S. C.) Hotel, and Masonic Temples in Jackson, Miss., Montgomery, Ala. (*), and in several other southern cities.
He had been a member of the A. I. A. after 1916, affiliated successively with the Georgia and the South Georgia Chapter.
