Laborer by trade; 1905 began revol work. Worked at Moscow and Perov Railroad Carolina Workshops. December 1905 participated in armed uprising in Moscow.
1908 arrested and exiled to Vologda Province. 1909 escaped from exile. Sent to Party school on the island of Capri.
Headed Leninist faction at school. Late November 1909, at Lenin’s invitation, attended a lecture course in Paris. After his return to Russia represented Bolshevik Center in Saint St. Petersburg.
Early 1910 arrested and exiled for life to Siberia. After 1917 October Revol Party, government and trade-union work in Siberia and the Far East. From 1926 admin work in Moscow.
Fought in World War 2.
