Studied at the Odessa Dental School. Studied at the Odessa Dental School.
Joined the Bolsheviks, 1907. Underground party work, several arrests. At the end of 1917, seized power for the Bolsheviks in Nizhnii Novgorod (now Gorkii).
Head of the Cheka in Nizhnii Novgorod, March 1918. On the way to Voronezh to establish Soviet power, fell into the hands of the Whites and was shot.
