Iakov Vorob’ev, USSR Revolutionary, state security official.


Vorob’ev, Iakov was born on November 17, 1885 in Vasilkov near Kiev. Son of a medical orderly.


Studied at the Odessa Dental School.


Joined the Bolsheviks, 1907. Underground party work, several arrests. At the end of 1917, seized power for the Bolsheviks in Nizhnii Novgorod (now Gorkii).

Head of the Cheka in Nizhnii Novgorod, March 1918. On the way to Voronezh to establish Soviet power, fell into the hands of the Whites and was shot.


No religious basis is needed in order to display ethical behavior.


The emphasis on peaceful coexistence doesn’t mean that the Soviet Union accepted a static world with clear lines. Socialism is inevitable and the "correlations of forces" were moving towards socialism.
