Background
Dr. Domowitz currently serves as a board member of McKinley Capital Management. Professional roles in the past include Vice Chairman of ITG Inc. in 2017 and 2018 and Chief Executive Officer of ITG Solutions Network Inc. from 2006 through 2016. He previously served as Managing Director and the Global Head of Analytical Products and Research of ITG Inc. from 2001 to 2005. Dr. Domowitz has consulted for the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and various international finance markets with respect to the design and construction of automated securities exchange structures. Dr. Domowitz chaired the Economic Advisory Board of the National Association of Securities Dealers and was a member of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Bond Market Transparency Committee.
Dr. Domowitz served in the U.S. Army from 1972 through 1975 as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Security Agency’s First Operations Battalion in Augsburg, Germany. Following military service, Dr. Domowitz earned a Bachelor of Arts with honors from the University of Connecticut and a Doctor of Philosophy in economics from the University of California San Diego. The Household International Research Professor of Economics at Northwestern University, he held positions in Economics, Finance, Statistics, and Public Policy over a period of sixteen years.
He has contributed more than 120 articles to professional journals and chapters to books. His latest monograph, The Vice Chairman’s Doctrine is awaiting publication at the time of this award followed by Four Laws for the Artificially Intelligent.
A fellow of the Program in Law and Finance at Columbia University, Dr. Domowitz finished his academic career as the Mary Jean and Frank P. Smeal chaired professor of finance at Pennsylvania State University from 1998 to 2002. A recognized pioneer in the research, design and operation of electronic trading markets, Dr. Domowitz has been listed in Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America and Who's Who in American Education.
