Career
Payne played two seasons with Gloucestershire in 1985 and 1986, and then later Shropshire in 1994. He retired in 1997. Payne was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm bowler. He was recently forced out of retirement by his two eldest children, Naomi and Max, and is currently trying to cement a place in the Shropshire over-50s team
