Wilson grew up in Bedford Hills, New York where he attended Fox Lane High School. In 1977 he was an All-State and All-County soccer player and led Fox Lane to the New York State Class Associate of Arts Championship. He scored 3 goals and added 1 assist in a 4-0 win over Scarsdale in the championship game.
That performance enabled Wilson to tryout for the NASL"s New York Cosmos at the age of 17.
He played 2 years for the 1977 and 1978 New York State Team and was selected to United States Eastern Regional Team in 1978.
Wilson entered Keene State, New Hampshire. During his four seasons at Keene State, he helped lead the Owls to three National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Tournaments where he was named to two All-Tournament teams in 1980 and 1981.
As a central defender, Wilson played and started in 93 collegiate games, scoring 18 goals and adding 14 assists. He was selected to both the National Collegiate Athletic Association and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics 1980 and 1981 All-American 1st teams.
He was also chosen to the 1979, 1980 and 1981 All-New England teams as well as being selected to three New England All-Star Teams.
Wilson was inducted into the Keene State Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004.
After playing semi-professional soccer in New England"s LASA league with Cranston Portuguese Club, Cranston, Rhode Island and Faialense Sport Club, Cambridge, Master of Arts. Wilson signed to play professionally for the 1983 Detroit Express in the American Soccer League. As a rookie he started in 13 games for the Express and was twice voted defensive player of the game. When the Detroit Express folded after the 1983 season, he was than picked up by the Rochester Flash in the United Soccer League in 1984.
Started 22 games for the Flash and was one of the team leaders in minutes played with 2045 ministers
Selected player of the match honors in games against Buffalo and Jacksonville. Scored 1 goal and picked up 1 assist as a defender and was nominated by the Houston Dynamo to their 1984 All-Opponent team
He is also Director of Coaching for Caetano Pro Soccer School. Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, Keene State Mississippi in Education, Walden University.
