Education
While young studied the ancient scriptures and poems under Dosai Kamei of Chikuzen Province (Fukuoka Prefecture), also received instruction in seal-engraving from Shozan Haruki ultimately discovering method of seal engraving in copper.
Career
He taught the art to Hanzaemon, blacksmith residing at Suido-cho, Edo, marking the founding of the Tosa copper seal trade. In latter years was implicated in a crime and was expelled and placed in confinement at Iogi-mura of Aki Province (Hiroshima Prefecture).
