Ichikawa Ennosuke was born in Tokyo, he is the eldest son of Danshiro Ichikawa II (early name: Ennosuke I).

Education
After finishing the Keika Middle School, he became a disciple of Danjuro Ichikawa IX with the stage name of Dango. Became Ennosuke II in 1910.
Career
For some time he was a member of the Jiyu Gekijo (Free Theater) of Kaoru Osanai. Went to Europe (1919) for study. An accomplished dancer and singer of Kiyomoto (a form of ballad drama), he heads the Ennosuke Theater Company.
