IRVING, iEmilius was born in 1823 in Leamington. Son of late Jacob jEmilius Irving, Member of the Legislative Council of Canada and of Ironshire, Jamaica, formerly of 13th Light Dragoons, served at Waterloo (medal), and Catherine Diana, daughter of Sir Jere Homfray of Llandaff House, Glamorganshire.
Studied at Upper Canada College.
Called to Bar, 1849; Queen's Counsel 1864. Represented City of Hamilton in House of Commons, Canada, 1874-1878. Treasurer of Law Society of Upper Canada, first elected 1893 and re-elected annually since.
Honourable Doctor of Laws University of Toronto, 1905.
