BELZA, Igor was born in 1904 in Kelcy, Poland.
1925 graduated Kiev Conservatory.
1925-1942 instructor of musical theory, Kiev Conservatory. Music Editor, “Mistetstvo” Publ. House and Kiev Film Workshop.
Since 1942 in Moscow as musicologist specializing in Slavonic musical culture, especially of Czechoslovakia and Poland. In 1940’s composed several symphonic and instrumental works. 1948 accused in All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Central Committee Decree of “formalism and fawning to the West”.
1960 headed Soviet delegation of musicologists to Warsaw.
