Graduate Odessa School of Horticulture. Also studied horticulture in Germany for several years.
Spent some 30 years studying and cultivating new varieties. 1890 obtained new seed varieties by free pollination. 1900 began work on hybridization.
1912 worked on selection under I.V.Michurin. Bred 33 varieties, including 16 apples, 4 pears, 8 plums, Samarets grape, Fortuna raspberry, Avenarius blackberry, Samara alycha (a kind of damson) and Pobeda (Victory) quince. The best strains are Samara Pippin, Samara Beauty, Katusya, Lenya greengage, Liya greengage, black greengage, October Vengcrka.
Also bred a number of strains of musk-melon, water-melon, haricot bean and other vegetables. In latter years headed Fruit and Ornamental Plant Department, Kuybyshev Botanical Garden. Contributed articles to journals “Plodovodstvo”, “Progressivnoye sadovodstvo i ogorodnichestvo” and “Sadovodstvo”.
There is no solid or tangible evidence for God nor a logical argument for God. The existence of God is taken on faith and not by evidence.
