He graduated from the Voronezh real school (1883), St. Petersburg Institute of Civil Engineers (1888).
Since 1889 he worked in Moscow. Since 1898 a member of the building council at the city council. Lecturer at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture (1907-1917).
He is the author of many large-scale projects in Moscow, including Morozovskaya (1905) and Soldatenkovskaya (1908-1915) hospitals, the Merchant Club (1907-1908, now the Lenkom Theater), People's University named after A.L Shanyavsky, (1910-1912, together with A.L Eichenwald). Architect Commissariat of Finance (1921-1926), Medical and Sanitary Administration of the Kremlin (since 1933).
He equipped a meeting room of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, rebuilt Andrew and Alexander Halls of the Grand Kremlin Palace.
