Sheiban, Imad was born on August 9, 1951 in Rama, Israel. Son of Hanna Sheiban and Soad Jubran.

1976 : He graduated from the Medical School at the University of Padua (Italy)

1979: He completed his Postgraduate School in Cardiology at the same University .

1979-1995: He worked at the Cardiovascular Pathophysiology Center - Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Verona

1989-19995 as acted as the Director of Hemodynamics and Interventional Cardiology Laboratory of the Department of Internal Medicine - University of Verona

1996-1998: Director of Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Cardiology at the Dicvision of Cardiology at the Istituto Scientifico , San Raffaele Hospital in Milan and as Associated Director of Interventional Cardiology ( with Dr A. Colombo ) in 1998-1999.

1999-2012: Director of Interventional Cardiology Unit - Division of Cardiology at the University of Torino

From 2003 he is Associate Professor of Cardiology at the University of Torino

Academic Activity: Since his staying at the University of Verona , as well as at the University of Turin, he carried out several educational and teaching courses appropriately to his expertise and the requirements of the MB and other undergraduate & postgraduate courses in Cardiology and investing an extensive amount of time each year to discuss and mentor with students, residents and fellows to develop their own educational, research and career goals.

In 2012 he is the Director of Interventional Cardiology at Pederzoli Hospital in Pechiera del Garda (Verona )

1978-1979 : training programme in hemodynamic studies and research, at the Cardiothoarcic Institute in London ( Department of Clinical Measurements directed by Dr AF Rickards)

1988-1989 : training programme in Interventional Cardiology at St Luke's Hospital , Wisconsin University, Milwuakee, Interventional cardiology directed by Dr G Dorros )

Clinical Work : After graduation and through the years Dr Sheiban attained very good competence in Clinical and non-invasive Cardiology (echocardiography, stress test, pacemaker programming) as well as . a high competence in Interventional Cardiology , taking direct care of patients and performing both elective and emergent percutaneous coronary interventions

From 1989 til now, he performed more than 15000 procedures of Interventional Cardiology including PTCAs , directional and rotational atherectomies, coronary stenting, IVUS, intracoronary pressure wire and flow wire studies both in elective and emergency settings , PFO closure , Interventricular septal defect closure , transcatheter aortic valve implantation and approximately 400 peripheral angioplasty procedures including extra-cranial carotid artery angioplasty

Research Activity: His research interests are broad and testify his extreme academic curiosity, motivation, and ability to work as both team and project leader in different research projects.

In the last 10 years his research activity was focusing on in-stent restenosis , Complex coronary Interventions ( Left main , Bifurcations , diffuse disease ), development of new stent designs and technology , Transcatheter treatment of cardiac valve disease , LV function in acute and chronic ischemia and acute myocardial infarction and actively participated to several international Multi-Center trials in Interventional Cardiology. His intensive clionical reaserch activity is easily testified by the 265 PubMed articles, over 350 abstracts and articles in conference proceedings and 5 book chapters.

Dr Sheiban frequently acts as invited Faculty and speaker in several International and National Meetings and Symposia in Intevevntional Cardiology and / or other clinical aspetcs aspects of heart diseases.

He is also owner of international patents on stent delivery system and a stent for bifurcation lesions .

Dr Sheiban belongs to a number of national and international scientific societies,fellow of American Heart Association , Society of Cardivascular Angiography and Interventions, European Society of Cardiology , Italian Society of Interventional Cardiology ( GISE)

He acts as Reviewer for several scientific journals: Circulation, American Heart Journal , American Journal of Cardiology , International Journal of Cardiology , EuroIntervention , Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine , Journal of American College of Cardiology , Heart , Journal of Interventional Cardiology
