After graduating from Keio University (1913) joined Furukawa & Co. Later was sent on an inspection tour to Europe (1917-1920). Returning home held many important posts in the firm, including Furukawa Electric Co., till he joined Fuji Electric Machine Co. as chief of their financial department (1923). Resigned to become Managing Director of Jiji Shimpo Press (1932). After this served briefly as director of Tokyo Chemical, Tokyo Engine Manufacturing and Shonan Electric Railways companies to become Managing Director of Yokohama Ruober Manufacturing Co. (1942), then president (1946). Entered politics and was elected to House of Councillors (1947). Was Minister of Trade and Industry in third Yoshida Cabinet (1949), and the following year was sent to America on a business tour (1950). Is president of Japan Neon Co., Ltd., director of Yamato Aviation Co., president of Japan Foreign Trade Society, director of Kojunsha Club and an advisor to Yokohama Rubber Manufacturing Co.
