Professor of Philosophy, University of Chile and the Catholic University of Chile. Affiliated with the Instituto de Humanismo Cristiano and the Sociedad Chilena de Filosofía. Involved with the journals Teoría and Escritos de teoría.
Views
Through his contact with Jorge Millas. Giannini was influenced by the perspectives of such thinkers as Ortgega y Gasset, Scheler and Bergson. Heidegger has also influenced his thought to some degree. Although Giannini is acutely aware of the impact that social and political conditions have had on philosophical activity in Chile, particularly the periods of military intervention and human-rights violations, his philosophy has tended to focus on themes he believes are of universal concern such as individuality and human interaction.
