Background
Served Yosobe Kajikawa, a Shogunate direct retainer; was a master of military arts and a scholar. Studied painting under Kazan Watanabe and Buncho Tani, great artists of those times and came to be regarded as one of the four great masters of the Kazan school, the other three being Chinzan Tsubaki, Hanko Fuku- da and Kinkoku Yamamoto.
