In December 1918, returned to Estonia, appointed head of the Estonian Army. Ally of Iudenich (White Army), 1919. Quelled a communist revolt in Estonia, 1924-1925.
After the Soviet occupation of Estonia, as a result of the StalinHitler pact, arrested, July 1940. Sent to the Gulag.
