1914 graduate Medical Faculty, Kiev University.
During World War 1 drafted into Russian Army. 1918 returned from Army and for 20 years worked in Pyamu as physician for a health insurance agency. Headed revol movement against Est Government.
1928 and 1935 visited Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics. 1936 organized Spanish Republic aid movement. Under constant police surveillance.
June 1940 became prime ministry of first Est People's Democratic Government. July 1940, with establishment of Soviet regime in Est, elected chairman. Presidium, Est Supreme Soviet.
Also deputy chin, Presidium, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Supreme Soviet. During World War 2 helped muster Est national units in Soviet Army. 1910 began writing career.
Visited France, Spain, Hungary, Albania and Greece. As a result of these journeys wrote his collection “Over the Threshhold”, containing a verse cycle “Classics” about the art of Ancient Greece. After establishment of Soviet regime in Est was elected chairman, Est Writers’ Union and ed of political and lit-art almanach “The Battle Horn”.
