Slutsk high school; studied at Tartu Veterinarian Institute.
Expelled from Tartu (Yur’yev) Veterinarian Institute for revol activities. Until 1905 worked for cd bd, Minsk newspaper Severo-Zapadnyy kray: participated in 1905 Revol in Saint St. Petersburg, then returned to Minsk, conducted Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party revol work among peasants in surrounding area. Before and during World War 1 worked for ed bds and publ houses in Saint St. Petersburg, Moscow and Kazan’.
Subsequently with cooperative system. At this time joined Belorussian national liberation movement. Helped found first Belorussian Soviet Socialist Republic (1 January 1919).
As representative of Belorussian Communist Section, Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks), became member, Belorussian Government, holding the post of People's Commissar of Labor. Early February 1919 removed from this post and polil activity altogether for ’’nationalistic diversion”. Early 1920's head, Belorussian Cooperative System, then Belorussian State Planning Commission, and Commission for Administration Division of Belorussian Territory.
Simultaneously lectured on the history of Belorussian revol movement at Minsk higher educational institutions. From 1924 head, Arts Department, Institute of Belorussian Culture. Later same post at Belorussian Academy of Sciences (since 1936 Academy of Sciences of Belorussian Soviet Socialist Republic).
Simultaneously director, 1st Belorussian Drama Theater and deputy head, Belorussian State Committee for Cinematography. Under the pseudonyms Nazar Byvayevskiy and Todar Kulcsh wrote a number of dramatic and prose works and critical articles 1930 arrested and exiled from Belorussian for ’’nationalistic” activities.
1956 rehabilitated, did not return to Belorussian, but settled in Saratov. After rehabilitation wrote historical novelettes: ” In the Name of Children”. "Prodigal Son” dealing with Simeon Polotskiy.
Worked on a novelette covering the life and work of Frantsishek Skorina in Italy.
