Iosif GORSHKOV, USSR Agronomist and fruit grower. Doctor of Agriculture Science; corresponding member, All-Union Lenin Academy, of Agriculture Science; Director, Selection and Genetics Station and other research establishments of Michurin Combine in Michurinsk, since 1935. Order of Lenin; two Order of Red Banner; medal “For Valiant Labor in 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War”; two Grand Gold Medals of All-Union Agriculture Exhibition.
Education
1917 graduate horticulture college.
Career
Until 1920 horticulturist, Kozlov Uezd Administration. Since 1920assist, to horticulturist and selectionist I. V. Michurin. Organized large fruit nursery, variety testing gardens and experimental plots.
Reported on Michurin’s work methods at Moscow, Leningrad and Kiev science conferences. 1923 organized a model section to demonstrate achievements of Michurin’s nurseries and laboratories at All-Union Agriculture Exhibition in Moscow. 1926-1931 organized Agriculture Technicum in Michurinsk.
Author of over 50 works and articles on selection, genetics and cultivation of soft fruit and vegetable Cucurbitaceae. Deputy, Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic Supreme Soviet of 1955 and 1959 convocation. Since 1959 member, Commission on Agriculture, Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic Supreme Soviet.

Peaceful coexistence among Soviet and Western block is a continuation of the class struggle between the socialist and capitalist worlds, but not based on armed conflict. The conflict is mainly economical.
