SHTOKALO, Iosif was born in 1897 in Skomorokhi, now Lvov Oblast.
1931 graduated Dnepropetrovsk University.
1915-1931 mathematics instructor in secondary school and technicums. 1931-1941 instructor, in Kharkov Engineering Economics Institute, Kharkov University, and other Kharkov higher education institutions. 1941-1944 at Institute of Mathematics, Ukrainia Academy of Sciences.
1944-1946 instructor, 1946-1951 Professor, Kiev University. 1949-1956 simultaneously Chairman, Presidium, Lvov Branch, Ukrainia Academy of Sciences. Chairman, Commission for the Compilation of Russia- Ukrainia Terminological Dictionaries.
Executive Editor, terminological dictionary on mathematics.
